Prof. Zhaoyong Zou
Wuhan University of Technology, China
Zhaoyong Zou, Professor, the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, Wuhan University of Technology. He received his master degree from Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013. Later, he joined Prof. Peter Fratzl’s group at Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (MPIKG) and received his Ph. D. with the overall evaluation “distinction” from Technical University of Berlin (2016). In 2018, he joined the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, Wuhan University of Technology. His research interests focus on biomineralization and bioprocess-inspired materials synthesis. While investigating the crystallization pathways of amorphous calcium carbonate, he discovered a previously unknown crystalline calcium carbonate phase, calcium carbonate hemihydrate. He has published high quality articles in journals like Science, PNAS and Advanced Functional Materials, etc.
